Design / Estimating Services

Our Design & Estimating Services Department is involved at the front end of all our projects. Whether a project is design/build or is design/bid/build this group is always one of the first to interact with our customers.

In the last decade our business has focused a great deal in the design/build and energy services market. Our experienced staff in this department has the knowledge and experience to work with our customers with little design information in the early stages of a project. Due to our depth of experience in such a wide variety of industries, our historical information is invaluable for anticipating the cost of building projects. We are able to do so very accurately before preparing a detailed take-off upon design completion.

Our Design & Estimating team uses a state of the art on screen take-off system in preparing detailed estimates for all our customers. In the early 1990's this department developed a proprietary system for tracking material and labor costs for each job they estimate. The system has been continually improved over the span of many years and they are able to produce an accurate manpower loading chart for each estimate we produce showing the peak manpower needs to complete projects on time. Our team works creatively and efficiently to develop a comprehensive bid for each project.

Once a project is awarded, our estimators work closely with the preconstruction team, the Project Managers, and the Superintendents to develop a strong plan for each project. They participate in the turnover meeting which is a critical stage in our planning process. At that point they clearly communicate their analysis of the job, the challenges they anticipate, and suggestions to proceed to successfully complete the project. Collaboration between the estimators and the Construction Department personnel is critical to the success of any job. On any design/build project members of the Design and Estimating Services Department coordinate closely with the customer in the early phases. After we receive the contract this department participates in regular meetings with the customer and establishes the game plan before site mobilization. Once the design phase is completed they then turn the project implementation responsibilities to the Construction Department personnel.
