Elizabeth is responsible for the successful management of SP McCarl and Company’s management team to include fiscal, operational, and strategic planning. She serves at the key motivating force in the company and ensures programs and personnel are in place to train the entire workforce in the principles of the SP McCarl Way. Elizabeth’s professional career includes extensive experience as a leader in operations, accounting, risk management, human resources, and information technology. Elizabeth’s career at SP McCarl & Company, Inc. began as Special Projects and General Manager. She has also served as Vice President, COO and CFO. She is a 2015 graduate of MCAA’s Advanced Leadership Institute from Babson Executive Education. Elizabeth has given her time to community organizations including serving on the Board of the Hollidaysburg Area Youth Football Association for several years. She resides in the Hollidaysburg Area with her husband, Josh and four children.


Executive Consultant

Shawn purchased the Altoona Division of McCarl’s, Inc. in 1996 after his dad started the business in 1946. Becoming a licensed plumber early in his career, Shawn has more than 30 years experience in the mechanical contracting industry. His knowledge of all aspects of the business, including the field, is tremendous and provides invaluable leadership and perspective to our organization.


Vice President of Construction Operations/QAQC

Joe leads estimating, purchasing, sheet metal fabrication and pipe fabrication activities. He plans, schedules and implements pre-assembly operations in our fabrication shops for field installations. He is leading efforts to implement lean construction into our day to day operations. Joe has over 20 years’ experience in all facets of the mechanical construction industry. He has been with S. P. McCarl since its inception with experience in purchasing, estimating, planning and managing in our organization. He is a Penn State University graduate obtaining a Bachelor of Science in art education, with a minor in art history. His continuing education includes certifications from various leadership programs and the MCAA Project Managers Institute. Joe and his family are supporters of the Central PA Humane Society.


CPA, Controller

Jennifer is a Certified Public Accountant who has 8 years experience in public accounting and 22 years experience in the private sector with a concentration in Construction Accounting. Jennifer leads our Accounting department and successfully meets the demands of our outside auditors, banking, and bonding requirements. Jennifer makes continuing education a priority to ensure the best outcomes for the company. She gives freely of her time to charitable organizations and most recently has been an integral part of the Griffith Family Foundation’s Sideline Cancer Golf outing.


Safety Director

David came to S.P. McCarl & Company with a diverse background in safety as well as operations. He is a Penn State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice. He holds several industry certifications including Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Project Management Professional (PMP). To stay up to date with safety trends, he likes to attend various conferences, webinars, and is a professional member of the American Society of Safety Professionals. David enjoys being active in the community and is a past board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair county and is currently serving on the Jaffa Shriners Executive Board where he is a proud supporter of Shriners Hospitals for Children. David is a lifelong resident of Blair County and currently resides in Duncansville with his wife Traci and daughter Alexis.


State College Branch Manager

Dave has spent his adult life serving the community through Boy Scouts while raising four children and maintaining his continuing education to stay on the cutting edge of his field. Dave is a Master Plumber for the City of Altoona, State of WV and a HVAC Mechanical license for the City of Pittsburgh, with over 40 years of experience. He owned a service business before joining Shawn McCarl and Craig Decker to create the service department at McCarl’s Preferred Services. He has successfully lead the service division but most importantly has been a mentor to many during his career. He is currently a Senior Project Manager in or JOC department for Penn State University through operations out of the State College office. He is a member of the local district Eagle Scout Board of Review, Code Board of Review for the City of Altoona and a member of the Craft Advisory Committee at the Huntingdon Career and Technology Center.
